Cleansing Milk

Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Milk $36.95 (USD) |
It is touted to be a make-up remover and gentle cleanser made with "natural" ingredients. On the ingredients list, we see many skin-loving oils like Jojoba Oil, Almond Oil but the key ingredient in this that makes it special is the lactic acid from fermented sourdough bread. It is supposed to mildly exfoliate and cleanse the skin. I will also note that alcohol is second on the ingredients list which is slightly unsettlingly since it is supposed to be formulated for sensitive skin.
When it comes to usage of this cleansing milk, let me just first clarify that this WILL NOT remove all your make-up. In fact when I use this, I can see a clear layer foundation still left on my face. Even when I rub it in and let it really sit on my face to breakdown the makeup, I don't get much luck removing my makeup. It won't remove stubborn waterproof mascara either. So, if you a planning on using this as a makeup remover... Don't!
I would definitely plan on following up this cleanser with a second, more traditional, soup-based cleanser. This is to be expected with cleansing milks and oils, but it will leave a slightly greasy residue on your face. I didn't know that cleansing milks falls into a similiar category as cleansing oils, so the first time I used this, I used this with my Clarosonic Mia and found a very strange greasy gunk of makeup left on my brushhead. Anyways, I will say that it is a very gentle cleanser and it does leave the skin feeling moisturized so, its great for dry skin. However, I will not be repurchasing this simply because of its lack of efficacy in actually removing my makeup.

Dr. Hauschka Clarifying Toner $34.95 (USD) |
This facial is made with witch hazel and their special herbal ingredient of Anthyllis. I don't much about that particular ingredient but according to the Dr. Hauschka website this was something traditionally used to reduce swelling and detoxify. It also has Echinacea which is supposed to be good for oily and blemished skin. I find that it actually does a pretty good job of refreshing the skin and balances out my skin. I've used it in the winter and summer and I have liked it for both. With toners, its difficult to really tell if it is benefitting the skin and figure out its specific benefits. But as far as balancing out the skin and rejuvenating skin, this one does that just fine.
Cleansing Cream

Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream $26.95 (USD) |
The only other cleanser in the Dr. Haushka line, this cleansing cream is also formulated with their signature Anthyllis. It's got a nice gritty texture to it and that is probably due to the Sweet Almond Meal. It's nice because it gently exfoliates the skin and can help to clear the pores as your rub this onto your face. It feels like you are really stimulating the dead skin cells and absorbing all the impurities. Like the Cleansing Milk, this cleanser will not leave your face with that squeaky clean feeling. It doesn't feel as greasy as the Cleansing Milk, but it will leave your face moisturized. I really have no complaints with this one. I face just felt soft and moisturized after cleansing. Overall, I enjoyed this cream cleanser and prefer it over the Cleansing Milk simply for the reason that it didn't leave me as greasy in the face.
Overall, I would say that for my first venture into organic skincare, this was a decent line. What really distinguished it from other traditional skincare lines is that it really is extremely gentle on the skin. It seems to be formulated for those with really sensitive skins and none of them feel harsh or abrasive on the skin. At same, the cleanser in this line are going to be a little less effect at really taking off all the makeup, sweat, oil and other gunk that might be on your face. For this reason, I really tend to use them on days where I'm not wearing as much makeup and just want a gentle, light cleansing.
